ACFG Community Gardeners 

In order to keep gardens in continuous operation,  ACFG-trained community gardeners learn not only plant care but also garden management planning. In order to best integrate your garden into your organization's routines and schedules,  ACFG offers program integration packages which cater to the special needs of your particular organization:

ACFG Executive Consultant

Helen Loughrey, MSW, founded Annapolis Community Food Gardens to address environmental and food security issues resulting from energy price volatility.  

Helen holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics from the University of Maryland College Park and a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland Baltimore.   For ten years, she was an Employee Assistance counselor specializing in addictions and mental health.   

Combining her research interests in food gardening methods and economic re-localization, Helen established Annapolis Community Food Gardens for the purpose of teaching children and adults how to grow organic food in a community setting.  

She is a member of the American Community Gardening Association, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and Maryland Master Gardeners.
